How to free up the flow of energy between yourself and between your team
Often times, in fact most times, when a group of people gather on a consistent basis, there is what we call “politics.” Basically, we use the word politics to describe an underlying or sometimes clearly expressed frustration between people who are supposed to be on the same team. In business it is quite simply a drain on the energy of everyone and everything, including cash flow and profits.

Clearing energy within a work space is essential for maximum profits and enjoyment.

In a top sales company, which employed many people, there would be an activity called a “circle of truth”. Basically how it worked was that everyone was given a piece of paper and they had to write down one thing they liked about each person in the circle and one thing that really pissed them off about each person in the circle. They did not need to sign their name to the comment so no one knew who wrote what. It was a space in which you could express your true feelings and remain anonymous. Amazingly, what happened was the comments, especially when describing the annoying aspect of peoples personalities, was the same from everyone. Sometimes annoying people have no idea that they have these character flaws. Flaws which in the past no one has had the courage to point out.

Invariably what happens is that everyone feels much better for having released the negative energy and for being told the truth about how others see them.

Depending on the level of management this company was working with they would sometimes do the same exercise but no pieces of paper. You simply had to look the person straight in the face and tell them, in front of the group. The person on the receiving end had to listen and not justify, explain or retort. It is always the receivers choice as to weather they accept the feedback or not.

I can tell you, that while being very “in your face,” it is a strategy that has been used very effectively, over and over to solve problems between people and to clear up the energy. I highly recommend it.

Always begin by you taking the lead and expressing your own frustrations about each team member. That gives them a license to begin sharing honestly with you.
